Note: The Government of Pakistan celebrated the International Year of the Child in a befitting manner. The National Organizing Committee formed under the direction of the President Zia-ul-Haq, who was Patron-in-Chief for the IYC-1979. First time in Pakistan Post Office, a painting competition was held of school going children at Karachi, Quetta, Lahore, Islamabad and Peshawar for the selection of designs for the Commemoratives in collaboration with the Art Council of Pakistan. Paintings of the following five children were selected for reproduction on four commemorative postage stamps and souvenir sheet.
