Date of Issue: October 16, 1993
According to a postal notification all ordinary envelopes were to be rubber handstamped to realise 30 paisa as stationery charge. Specimen rubber handstamps were supplied by the GPOs to the Head and Branch post offices. But numerous others were commissioned by Branch and Sub-Offices. The seal was stamped in various colours on the front or back, in all possible positions. Also known in manuscript wherever the device was not supplied on time. Languages use in handstamp were English and Urdu or Sindhi.
Many Re. 1/- envelopes, commemoratives and slogan types etc., were treated so. Most of them are philatelic. Private handstamps were also used by individuals and Franchise Post Offices. Other values were also rubber stamped.
